Trick

1. Install Windows 7 without any product activation key.

2. After installation is completed, use Windows 7 for 30 days and wait for the remaining days left to activate Windows counting down to 0, or almost zero.

3. When the activation grace period (or evaluation trial period) is almost expired log on to Windows 7 desktop, and open a Command Prompt window( type Cmd in Start Search and hit Enter)

5.Reboot Windows 7 to enjoy another 30 days of free usage without worrying about activation nor even need to crack Windows 7.

When the activation grace period countdown timer almost running down to 0 again, repeat the rearm trick to enjoy another 30 days of Windows 7 for free. User can run the rearm command for maximum of 3 times.

Windows Vista slmgr.vbs Configuration

slmgr.vbs is an important feature in Windows Vista. Lemme tell you what other things you can achieve with it.

-ipk Product Key Install enterprise license key (where Product Key represents the actual key) to enable KMS host functionality.
-dli Display license information.
-ato Attempt immediate activation.
-sprt port Set KMS host listening port (where port is the port ID).

Hack Windows Vista Activation

How miserly is that Windows Vista gives you only one month of trial for a whole damn Operating system? I can understand it for a registry cleaner or an antivirus software. But for an OS, isn't it too low? So here is a legal way to increase it and forget about registering by pay.

check the activation expiry date with the command: slmgr -xpr
Go to bottom left corner
Navigate to this path:
HKLM\SOFTWARE \Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SL
Double-click SkipRearm and change the value to 1.
Note: this registry hack does not make any sense on a machine which has already been activated!
Now remember to run the 30 day extension command: slmgr -rearm
Restart the machine. After it reboots, run slmgr -xpr and check the expiry date.
Check the registry setting SkipRearm, slmgr resets the value to zero.

Is this Apple's iPhone Nano that will be Announced at Macworld 2009?

The rumors of the iPhone Nano is back and this time with the photo of the iPhone Nano case.
iDealsChina who has published the information and rendering of the iPhone Nano case manufactured by a Chinese case manufacturer, XSKN claims that the product will be announced at Macworld San Francisco 2009

The Chinese case manufacturer, XSKN are the same folks who had leaked the photos of Apple's iPhone 3G case with a curved back before it was launched.

iDealsChina has provided few details about iPhone Nano's specification to back up it claims.
They claim that the new iPhone Nano will be of the same height as iPod Nano and will include "3 sensors, camera, [and a] mirror screen but no 3G."
Though I have always maintained that Apple needs to expand its offering to be a serious player in the mobile space, it seems unlikely that Apple would release an iPhone Nano which would look like the one shown in the photo above.
Here are some of the reasons why I think its unlikely:

The so-called iPhone Nano's screen is too small to use iPhone's virtual keyboard.
It is unlikely that Apple would trust a vendor who had leaked the photos of the iPhone 3G case to give them details of their upcoming product.
The smaller screen will have issues for iPhone apps that are currently developed for iPhone's 3.5 inch screen.

But, it is finally good to see some activity on the rumors leading up to Macworld San Francisco 2009.

Removing the problem of System Hang at Startup

If your system hangs about 2 or 3 minutes at startup, where you can't access the Start button or the Taskbar, it may be due to one specific service (Background Intelligent Transfer) running in the background. Microsoft put out a patch for this but it didn't work for me. Here's what you do:

1. Click on Start / Run, type 'msconfig', then click 'OK'.
2. Go to the 'Services' tab, find the' Background Intelligent Transfer 'service, disable it, apply the changes & reboot.

This problem with the Background Intelligent Transfer Service should have been corrected in Windows update Q 314862, part of Service Pack 1.

Disable Prefetch on Low Memory Systems - Windows XP

I found this useful app via FixMyXP. ClearMem is an Excellent Tool for speeding up your XP Computer (especially if your system has been on for awhile and you have a lot of applications open). What it does, is it Forces pages out of physical memory and reduces the size of running processes if working sets to a minimum. When you run this tool, the system pauses because of excessive high-priority activity associated with trimming
the working sets. To run this tool, your paging file must be at least as large as physical memory. To check your Paging File:

Go to your control panel, then click on ‘System’, then go to the ‘Advanced’ Tab, and Under ‘Performance’ click ‘Settings’ then the ‘Advanced’ Tab
On the Bottom you should see ‘Virtual Memory’ and a value. This is the value that must be at least as large as how much memory is in your system
If the Virtual Memory Value is smaller than your system memory, click Change and change the Min Virtual Memory to a number that is greater than your total system memory, then click ‘Set’ and Reboot
Once you have rebooted install ClearMem

Speed Up Boot Times in Windows XP

This tweak works by creating a batch file to clear the history and temp folders everytime you shutdown so that your PC does not waste time checking these folders the next time it boots. It's quite simple to implement:

       1. Open Notepad and create a new file with the following entries:

     * RD / S / q "C: \ Documents and Settings" username without quotes "\ Local Settings \ History"
     * RD / S / q "C: \ Documents and Settings \ Default User \ Local Settings \ History"
     * RD / S / q "D: \ Temp" <- "Deletes temp folder, type in the location of your temp folder"

       2. Save the new as anything you like but it has to be a '. Bat' files eg fastboot.bat or deltemp.bat

       3. Click 'Start' then 'Run'

       4. Type in 'gpedit.msc' and hit 'ok'

       5. Click on 'Computer Configuration' then 'Windows Settings'

       6. Double-click on 'Scripts' and then on' Shutdown '

       7. Click 'Add' and find the batch file that you created and then press' Ok '

When your PC starts it usually looks for any media in any bootable floppy or CD-ROM drives you have installed before it gets around to loading the Operating System from the HDD. This can waste valuable time. To fix this we need to make some changes to the Bios.

    1. To enter the bios you usually press' F2 'or' delete 'when your PC starts
    2. Navigate to the 'Boot' menu
    3. Select 'Boot sequence'
    4. Then either move your Hard drive to the top position or set it as the 'First Device'
    5. Press the 'escape' key to leave the bios. Do not forget to save your settings before exiting

Note: Once this change has been made, you will not be able to boot from a floppy disk or a CD-ROM. If for some strange reason you need to do this in the future, just go back into your bios, repeat the steps above and put your floppy or CD-ROM back as the 'First Device'

When your computer boots up it usually has to check with the network to see what IP addresses are free and then it grabs one of these. By configuring a manually assigned IP address your boot time will improve. To do this do the following:

Click on ‘Start’ and then ”Connect To/Show All Connections’
Right-click your network adapter card and click ‘Properties’
On the ‘General’ tab, select ‘TCP/IP’ in the list of services and click ‘Properties’
In the TCP/IP properties, click ‘Use the following address’ and enter an IP address for your PC. If you are using a router this is usually 192.168.0.xx or 192.168.1.xx. If you are not sure what address you could check with your ISP or go to ‘Start/run’ and type ‘cmd’ and then ‘ipconfig/all’. This will show your current IP settings which you will need to copy
Enter the correct details for ‘Subnet mask’, ‘Default gateway’ and ‘DNS Server’. Again if you are not sure what figures to enter use ‘ipconfig/all’ as in stage 4.

Simple Ways of Speeding Up Windows Vista

Windows Vista is a rather heavy operating system with many neat features, but unfortunately they come at all in price. Right out of the box it requires a pretty hefty system to run (arguably).

Before you run out and buy a new computer just so you can run your base operating system, check out these Simple Ways To Speedup Windows Vista tips to lighten the load. This is just the first in the series, so many of them may be very apparent to those experienced in tweaking.

1. Turn off UAC, or at least make it less annoying

Now, there € ™ sa lot of talk about the new user account control policy in Vista, and all I can say is: as it is, it annoys the hell out of me and slow down my normal computer usage. Just why, oh why, does it have to flash my video card to a black screen, take 5 seconds and really just make itself a royal pain in the arse?

To turn it off, the easiest way is to go into the Control Panel and type in 'UAC' into the search bar. Ita € ™ ll bring up a search result of â € ~ Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or Offa € ™. Just follow the prompts from there.

To keep some of the security of the UAC, Leta € ™ s just turn off the crazy annoying blacking out screen bit. To do this:

     * Open group policy (start | run | gpedit.msc)
     * Then navigate to Computer Configuration | Windows Settings | Security Settings | Local Policies | Security Options
     * Find the policy named â € ~ User Account Control: Switch to the secure desktop when prompting for elevation € ™. Set this to disabled.

Much better, eh? You might say â € ~ But what € ™ s that got to do with speed? Â € ™ Well, as I mentioned, it prompts me a couple times at least an hour and then takes several seconds to figure itself out. My productivity goes up, so ita € ™ sa speed enhancer;)
2. Disable Aero

I personally do not do this, as I am a fan of the graphical styles, but I realize it comes at a cost. It does tend to eat up both RAM and CPU usage (as well as video card usage). While it is turned off during gaming, you can still notice its effects during normal computer usage. When it is really cranking, it can use 15% of your CPU. Ouch. Vanity comes at a cost.

If you do like it, at least turn it down a notch couple. Some performance increases have nothing to do with strain on hardware, or amount of processing. Sometimes, things are designed to take longer than they should, though maybe only a fraction of a second, but the end result to the user is a faster machine. Minimizing and maximizing does an animation. Watch closely. Pretty quick eh? Still, it does slow you down, and, really, what does it add to your experience? I am all about vanity and aesthetics, but this feature has got to go.

Relish in the fact you will be increasing your productivity by 0.2 seconds to Minimize / Maximize. :)

     * Open your start menu, go to Run, and type in 'systempropertiesperformance'
     * From the Visual Effects tab, uncheck "Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing '
     * While you are here, might as well check out the other goodies you can disable.

3. ReadyBoost

ReadyBoost is one of the more innovative features of Vista. The idea behind it is to use solid state memory as a secondary memory cache (before hard drive caching.) It does require a certain level of speed from your USB (or other) flash drive. Do a quick search on google for just the fastest USB flash drive you can get your hands on (women € ™ t worry they are cheap) and buy one.

To enable ReadyBoost, just plug in a fast flash drive, and autoplay should come up with a dialog stating that you can use it for readyboost. If you have disabled it, you can just go to the properties for the drive and select it under the readyboost tab. Easy as cake. It is no substitution for RAM, but one can get a several GB flash drive for very little. Some sites have stated that the improvements are not as much as MS says they are, but even a minor improvement for such a low investment makes this worth your while. Do find the best drive you can for random reads / writes (the drive speed is usually rated for sequential reads which wonâ € ™ t help you much).

     * What speed drive do I need? 2.5MB/sec throughput for 4K random reads and 1.75MB/sec throughput for 512K random writes.

     * What size drive do I need? 256MB to 4GB, where as best performance is gotten at around a 1:1 to 2:1 in flash to ram ratio. So really, you should never try this with a flash drive smaller than 1GB-2GB
4. Tweaked Indexing Service

I personally woman € ™ t the new research, too. Although pigs a large amount of resources, though. If you completely out:

       * Go to My Computer, right-click the folder C: drive, go to the General tab and uncheck Index this drive to speed up the search, select Include subfolders and files.
       * You can use any additional areas of research, so you can quickly your search to certain areas.

Personally I think the indexing of the options in the control panel and menu items to start as a blessing, so let alone. Only to find items in the tree that women actually € ™ t want to be indexed (including documents).
5. While you are in this solution the rest of your search

Often it is for me to do research in text files, as a method for use in a PHP file, or perhaps something in a file java. Whatever the situation, Windows Vista has a very limited number of extensions scored for the full-text search, which gives rise to "no results" when we know there are some.

       * Open Control Panel and type of "indexing" in the search field (or you can do in the Start menu, but many people off).
       * Select Options for indexing "
       * Select the Advanced button
       * Select "File Types" tab
       * On this list you'll see a list of extensions. If you click on the majority of them, the bottom button from the index only properties or properties and index the contents of a file '
       * Frankly, index-only properties is fairly useless so most people use for research (which is to say, actually just a search by date).
       * Remove an image that you removed from the search. This can be done for a series of extensions that honestly, issued € ™ t want to know anyway. Is it really help your score.
       * Change button in the index of the properties and contents of a file "because these types of files included in the research (should be established for Word documents, and any other text-based search in the archives)

6. So the sidebar

7. Ombudsman has a use?

Yes, Windows Defender actually has a purpose!

       * Opens

The items on this list is very likely that the programs that run at 100% of the time that your computer is on, so if you can live without them, kill them.

8. Fine-tune their services

Well, this is a debatable. Many sites preach the service information to adjust the end of all institutions, and Vista has a lot of services (like 130). However, a good portion of them are configured for manual or default. Manual only started the service when the operating system thinks it needs to use this program. However, Vista has a lot of services set to Auto by default, which are not necessary for many people. Of course, which normally for sleeping, that does not use CPU, and whether the use of space, usually in paged to disk very quickly. But, regardless, it is reasonable to make fast, and gain some improvements.

Firstly, how to say what should be really worried. A new feature in Vista is the â € ~ Go to Service € ™ feature in Task Manager (or at least I've never noticed that before). Open Task Manager, Processes tab, right-click a particularly heavy and select a € ~ Go to Service (s) â € ™. This instead of the Services tab and select all services carried out under this process (which are usually multiple svchost.exe runs, many of the other only on a map service).

It also works the other way (select service, right click and go to trial) I have something to 75 servers working at the moment. Most of them are exactly zero for use. I do not have a printer, but print queue is implemented and the use of a huge range of my 1 MB RAM at the time. There are more examples, but even if you get 20 of these, it's your time worth? Well, yes and no. As I said, many of them are already paged, so really scenario € ™ t that affect their system € ™ s memory. Do not include overhead costs, because the developer has yet to master, but I can not for the life of my record the way it does in Windows.

In general, perhaps minimal, but if you go for every ounce of change Ness, give it a chance.        * Expansion of the disc and order by a read or write the column.

You can also take a look at the CPU, memory and network usage in the same way. Now you have probably noticed that your virus scanner is the use of resources 20x Aero, as it insists on the exploration of its RAM all the time, and cursed scans every file that read, write or run. But what can you do? Looking for a few programs that are coveted, or run when they have no reason to take action (for example, iTunes has a couple of installation canceled services that run constantly. Why? If you are like 93% of Internet surfers out there, you are reading this article from a browser installed on your Windows machine, however I’m sure you have heard of that “other operating system”. You know the one which is really difficult? Yeah, that’s right, Linux. Well, it’s almost right, except for the part about “really difficult”. You may have seen screenshots, thought about trying it, already tried it, or just thought “hey, it’s a cool idea”. If you are any of these and curiosity just has you itching to give Linux a shot, or another shot, read on!

In this article I’ll show you how to get up and running on your current system in your very own Linux environment. I will be walking you through installing the most popular, and in my opinion the best flavor of Linux called Ubuntu. So before you read any further, hop on over to the the Ubuntu Linux download page and start downloading the CD image. You may be wondering which download do you need. If you have an Intel or AMD processor
, get the Intel x86 version. Avoid the 64 bit version, even if you have a 64 bit processor, it is not officially supported. Mac users will need the Power PC variation.

Don’t worry, we will be setting up a dual boot so your Windows install is safe!

Why Bother?

Good question. Why would you want to try Linux when you are a happy Windows user? Here are just a few reasons:

    * Thousands of applications are immediately available and 100% free
    * No more virus, spyware, or malware hassles!
    * You want to learn something new (this was my reason)
    * It’s cool
    * Why not?
    * It’s 100% free (did I mention that yet?)

If any of those reasons are compelling, or at least good enough, Linux is worth giving a shot. Who knows, you might actually like it!

Important Stuff to Know

Before we actually start the installation, it is important to make sure your expectations of Linux are set correctly. First and foremost: Linux is not Windows! You are going to have to use the command line sometimes and most likely do a little bit of troubleshooting. Please do not let this intimidate you, after using Linux for a short while you will become proficient and, with a little patience and persistence, eventually be just as comfortable with Linux as you are with Windows. I’ll even point you to some very helpful resources to get all the answers you need. I’ve only been using it 5 months, and while I still know Windows better, I can use Linux just as easily.

As you may know, Linux is “open source” software, meaning anyone, anywhere can take the code and edit it without restriction. This sounds great, and don’t get me wrong, it is, however because there is no commercial backing, there can be certain shortcomings. Some of these include device driver support and availability of software (especially games). Do not let this discourage you though, virtually all hardware has support for Linux and you are going to have thousands of applications available to you with just a few clicks of your mouse once we get you set up on Ubuntu. Sound good? Of course it does! Check you download progress!

The machine I will be referring in this article is an Intel Pentium 3 866Mhz. The motherboard is an Asus CUV4X with 512MB of memory. Additionally, I have a DVD drive and 2 15 gigabyte hard drives, One has XP Professional already installed (primary IDE master) and the other is empty (primary IDE slave). Here is a basic rundown of what I will be covering in this article:

Lets Install Ubuntu!

Ahh, there’s nothing more exciting than a new operating system install. Nervous? Don’t be, this is going to be easy. Is your download done yet? Well, when it is, burn it to CD immediately and pick up this article from this point. I’ll even leave you a marker so this spot is easy to find.

HERE IS WHERE TO PICK UP

You have the Ubuntu install disc, so pop in your spare hard drive (if you do not know how to do this, make a quick detour to the PC Mech Forums and you will have it done in no time) and put the install disc in your CD drive and lets get started.

After your computer goes through its boot sequence you will be greeted with the Ubuntu installation welcome screen. After pressing Enter, you will be asked for your preferred language, followed by your location and keyboard layout. The install will then start detecting some of your hardware, load some basic components, and auto detect your network settings. Now you will be prompted for your “Host Name”. This is the equivalent of your Windows computer name. I am going to call this computer tux (the name of the Linux Penguin). Up next, the install will detect your hard drives and ask what you want to do. Much like Windows, Ubuntu will let you select the drive you want to install it on and with the press of your Enter key handle everything for you. The problem is, that’s no fun, plus there is a better way. So let’s do a little Linux “geeking”.

Partitioning for Your Linux Installation

Before showing you the partitioning scheme I will be using for this setup, it is important to understand how the use of partitions differ between Windows and Linux. On a default Windows install, all your files are stored in a single block of space on your hard drive called a partition. To make things easy, Windows assigns a letter (usually C) to this partition. Linux does the exact same thing except it does not use letters. In fact, if you were to “explore” your Linux file structure, it would appear everything was stored on a single drive, even if you have several partitions or multiple hard drives “mounted” (more on this later). Enough talk, select the option to manually edit your partition table and let’s move on.
Now you will see a listing of your existing hard drive partitions. Linux refers to your IDE devices (usually your hard drives and CD drives) using the letters “hd” followed by letters a through d (representing primary IDE master through secondary IDE slave, respectively). Additionally, hard drive partitions have a number after them referring to the partition number. For example, a hard drive on your secondary IDE cable set as master, with 2 partitions would show as hdc1 and hdc2. A CD drive on your primary IDE cable set to slave would show as hdb (there is no number because CD’s do not have partitions).
You should see your primary hard drive (hda) which has your Windows installation with all of its partitions listed. We are going to leave this one alone. Additionally, you will see your empty hard drive (hdb, hdc, or hdd) with the size of the drive listed followed by “FREE SPACE”.
Highlight “FREE SPACE”, press enter and then select the option to create partition. We are going to first create the “/” partition which is equivalent to the Windows C drive. All of your programs and libraries (libraries in Linux are similar to Windows DLL’s) will be stored on this “/” partition. A size of 5-10 GB should be plenty for this. Since I only have 15 GB on my installation drive, I am going to allocate 5 GB, but if you have a bigger drive, assign more space just to be safe. On my primary machine, I have an 80 GB drive and I have 10 GB partitioned for “/”. After entering the size, select Primary as the partition type. Next you will be asked where to place the partition on the disk. Since “/” is our workhorse partition which will store all our crucial Linux operating system files, including the information we need to boot the system, it makes sense to place it at the beginning. At last you will be presented with a partition configuration screen. You will see the option to change the partition file system, but lets leave it with the Linux standard, ext3. Make sure the mount point is set to “/” and change the bootable flag to “on”… after all we do need to boot our system right? Select the option to be done with this partition and let’s move on to the next one.
You should now notice some of the free space has been allocated to your “/” partition. We still have a couple of more partitions to set up so highlight “FREE SPACE” again and create our swap partition. The swap partition is used for temporary random storage in case your computer doesn’t have enough memory to store what programs demand. Additionally, if you hibernate your computer, all the contents of your memory are stored in the swap. Windows refers to this as “virtual memory”. The recommended amount to allocate for this is one and a half times your memory, so for me, I am going to make it 768 MB. Make this a primary partition and place it at the end of your drive. At the configuration screen, change the partition to a swap area. Apply the changes.
Lets set up the final partition. Select the remaining “FREE SPACE” and assign all of your remaining space to this primary partition. When you get to the configuration screen, notice the mount point is set to “/home”. The /home directory in Linux is equivalent to “My Documents” in Windows. For example the user I am going to set up, “jason”, has its own directory (/home/jason) which stores all my personal settings and files. The reason we make this a separate partition is for abstraction. For example, we can format our “/” partition for a new install or distribution upgrade without losing any data… even better, all my settings such as bookmarks and playlists will be kept no matter what happens to the “/” partition. Pretty neat idea. Apply your changes, this is the last partition!
Well, the hard part is now over. Compare your screen to mine, they should look similar. Go ahead and select finish partitioning and confirm you selections to write the partitions to your hard drive.

The other most commonly used trick to sniff password is using Fake Login Pages.
This is where many people get cheated.A Fake Login page is a page that appears exactly as a Login page but once we enter our password there ,we end up loosing it.

Fake login pages are created by many hackers on their sites which appear exactly as Gmail or Yahoo login pages but the entered details(username & pw) are redirected to remote server and we get an error "Page cannot be displayed".Many times we ignore this but finally we loose our valuable data.

This is simple and most of you might already know it..but i thought i'd post it anyway.

I tought of this my self while i was converting 3gp (mobile phone) videos into .avi

First what you have to do is download a youtube video using a grabber or a grabing site (like tubeg

(save it as .flv (you all know that:P ) )

Then you can convert it to .avi or mpg or w/e you want simply by using this site

NOw when you browse and put the file it will give you a list of extention that you can cnvert it too..no mp3 is in there..unfotrunately you can only convert it to another video form....so you should voncert it to 3gp

Then you will browse the 3gp file again and you will see that there are 2 3gp types..one is for video and one is for music..choose the sound type (this way your file will be recongized are pure sound and no video in it) then you can choose convert to :mp3..and all done
that's it..pretty easy and pretty usefull since here are so many cool live conserts and music videos that i can't find on mp3

t seems the trend at the moment is to do a basic google search before asking the question they were hell bent on spaming up the forum with anyway. Here's a few small tips.

1) Think of a good topic title
- Why think of a topic title when searching? I'm not sure, but for some reason 90% of the threads I find on here usually have an answer in the first few google results when i type the thread title into google.

2) Actually try to search
- This is getting more common by the day: "Oh I searched google but it sucked so how do i .....". No. Bad user. When we say search the forums/google/msdn it's because we know that the answer is out there, but you do need to open your eyes. If you find an article that could help but doesn't, then post a link to it. This at least suggests that you've put some effort in.

3) Be more specific
- Googling "process infection" comes up with a bunch of NHS websites. However "process infection c++" immediately shows a bunch of tutorials.

4) Be less specific
- This one speaks for itself. It is incredibly easy to copy and paste a whole line of error message into google and get 2 results, both of which are in Russian. Instead of bugging xweasel at this point, try taking off quotes or getting rid of the specific parts of the error message. You might surprise yourself!

5) Try something new
- You can waste a lot of time searching for the same thing only to find it's not what you want. Do you see any common words that come up on pages that you check in your search? Try searching for them and see where it takes you.

Creating invisible folders

This tutorial will not teach you to create hidden folders but invisible folders.
There is no point in creating hidden folders because you can just go to Tools > View > Show hidden files and folders.

Follow these steps:

1. Right click in a directory and go to New Folder.
2. Right click and then go to rename.
3. Delete the name and press Alt + 255. This will make the text disappear.
4. Right click on the folder once again but this time go to properties. Click on the "Customize" tab and go to the bottom where it says "Change Icon".
5. Scroll over and choose a blank icon like in this picture:

One minor flaw is that when you highlight the area with the folder, a small rectangle shows, indicating something is there. Also if you change the view to "Details" it will show it in Description.

Save youtube videos directly from Firefox3 cache

Open the youtube video page in firefox 3. Allow the video to play once.

Now the video is finished playing. Open a new tab in firefox 3. In the location bar (address bar) type

about:cache

and press enter. A new page will load. In the page see the heading

Disk cache device

Under that there is “Cache Directory”. There will be a long address similar to one shown below

C:\Documents and Settings\usrname\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\abcd123h.default\Cache

Copy the full address (You must copy the cache link address from your computer. The above address is just to show and make you understand). Now open “My Computer”. In the address bar paste the already copied long address.

A folder will open. This folder contains the youtube video file in the form of cache. Note that the video file will be big in size. Now open VLC Media player or any other flv player. Drag and drop the bigger cache file in the media player. The file that plays the video is your video file. Copy and paste it in desktop. Rename the file to yourvideo1.flv (or any other name of your choice with flv extension).

Now you have saved the youtube video right from your firefox 3 cache rather than downloading it again.

You can watch the saved video while offline.

Explorer crash on opening of some folder having viedos

While working on win xp i have faced many problems whose solution is not there even with MS people..

one such problem is the occurrence of explorer. According to ms people it happens because o corrupt codecs. But when it happened with me i couldn't found any such problem. Anyway.. they still didn't gave any solution for this. what happens exactly is that when you open some folder containing videos it results in a crash of explorer and explorer restarts and you get a window to sen error report.

Well, the solution [temporary] is that open that folder and quickly [before ur explorer crash again] change the view from thumbnails to ANY other. Even after doing so the explorer will crash but next time when u open the same folder.. it wont crash again if its in icon view or detail view[but not thumbnail]. Now in explorer open Tools>folder options>view>now uncheck "hide protected os files" . a warning will be displayed.. ignore it.. click apply.

now goto that folder. you may see a file named thumbs.db. delete it. Now again goto Tools>folder options>view>now check "hide protected os files" for safety. and click apply

now u may again change the view of that folder to thumbnails. but if it crashes again then repeat the above said process and dont use the thumbnails view again for that folder until you format the system in future.

Syntax Search Tricks

Using a special syntax is a way to tell Google that you want to restrict your searches to certain elements or characteristics of Web pages. Google has a fairly complete list of its syntax elements at

. Here are some advanced operators that can help narrow down your search results.

Intitle: at the beginning of a query word or phrase (intitle:"Three Blind Mice") restricts your search results to just the titles of Web pages.

Intext: does the opposite of intitle:, searching only the body text, ignoring titles, links, and so forth. Intext: is perfect when what you're searching for might commonly appear in URLs. If you're looking for the term HTML, for example, and you don't want to get results such as

Link: lets you see which pages are linking to your Web page or to another page you're interested in. For example, try typing in

Try using site: (which restricts results to top-level domains) with intitle: to find certain types of pages. Let Google help you figure out whether you've got the right spelling—and the right word—for your search. Daterange: (start date–end date). You can restrict your searches to pages that were indexed within a certain time period. This operator can help you ensure that results will have fresh content (by using recent dates), or you can use it to avoid a topic's current-news blizzard and concentrate only on older results. This Book is by Chetan Bhagat.

What strikes you first about Chetan Bhagat’s novels is the fact that this author writes about Indians and for Indians. His characters are young, ambitious and passionate and have the same moral, social and religious dilemmas as many of the young Indians today. At the same time their context and sensibility too is unabashedly Indian. The new and the third Bhagat book, “The3 mistakes of my life”, has all these qualities.

The setting is the city of Ahmedabad that though being urban is yet not as metropolitan as many of its metro counterparts. It retains its small town flavour in pols (colonies), traditional Indian households and small vegetarian joints. It has the protagonist Govind with his passion and acumen for accounts and business, it has Ishan for whom cricket is the element around which his life revolves and it has Omi, a priest’s son and a loyal friend who is game for anything that his friends are game for.

The book is based on real life events. It begins in a dramatic enough fashion with Bhagat receiving an e-mail from Govind who had taken many sleeping pills and was writing to him while waiting for the deadly sleep’s embrace. Chetan’s was shook enough by the incident to track the boy down to Ahmedabad hospital. Fortunately he was still alive to tell the tale. The book is loosely based on the three mistakes Govind made in his life.

What follows is a mix of cricket, religion, business, love and friendship. Govind sets up a sport shop along with his friends in the temple compound with Omi’s family’s help. The shop prospers as Ishan coaches young boys in cricket and Govind teaches maths to Ishan’s sister Vidya who also captures his heart. Ishan then meets Ali, a child master with hyper reflex condition that makes him hit each ball for a six. Ali becomes the talent Ishan never had and Ali’s destiny becomes his own.

Enter Omi’s Bitoo mama, a communal party man bent on converting the young into fighters in the name of Hinduism. Situations come to a head and Ahmedabad burns in riot fires. Omi dies saving Ali and Ishan finds out about Vidya and Govind, a betrayal he does not forgive. These events lead Govind to his death-bed and that is when he writes the email to Bhagat.

Perhaps, this is the biggest compliment an author can receive. Its not when New York Times describes as you the biggest selling English language author in the country and not when you have sold more than two million books but it is definitely when someone chooses to remember him in his last minutes. After all, the purpose of all writing is to touch someone’s heart. And Bhagat seems to have done just that.

“The 3 mistakes of my life” is written simply and has the quality that makes one want to read the book cover to cover in one sitting. The pricing of the book is just right for his target audience. At Rs95, this book is indeed value for money and time. Bhagat’s other book, One night at the rate of call centre is already being made into a Bollywood multi-starer. This book too has all the masala, emotion and pace to become a potential blockbuster.

How To Renew IP address

It sometimes becomes necessary to manually renew your IP address. If you suddenly realize you do not have an Internet connection, you can often simply right-click the computer icon in the task bar near the clock of your XP desktop (If this icon is present). This will go through a process of resetting your IP address.

But if you do not have this option, you can go to START>RUN and type cmd. At the command line type ipconfig /release (or winipcfg /release in earlier versions of Windows). Then hit ENTER. Next, type ipconfig /renew and you should get a new IP address from the router.

If you have a cable modem, you may want to also renew its IP address. First, go ahead and release the IP address on the PC, then shut the computer down. Next, unplug the cable modem for a couple of minutes, then plug it back in again. Once all of the modem lights are green, power up the PC again. It should automatically renew its IP at boot.

Note: If you have a router, you'll want to unplug it, as well, then plug it back in AFTER you plug in the modem, but before you power up the PC. The router will need to supply the PC with a new IP address.

Even without hard rebooting your router you may easily reboot it if you are able to log into it. For logging into the router control pannel..simply type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.100.1 [depends on router too] and enter the user name and password which is genarally common [admin, password etc]. simplly click on reboot modem option and you are done

1. Create application shortcut : Create desktop and Start menu shortcuts to web apps such as Gmail - go to Gmail.com and then select from the Page Control menu (in the top-right corner of your browser - it looks like a page with the corner folded over). Now choose where you want to place your shortcut. This works for other Google apps such as Calendar and Documents, and other services such as Windows Live Hotmail.

2. Control + Shift + N opens an ‘incognito’ window - sites you view in this window won’t appear in your history and cookies served by sites in this window will be deleted when the window is closed.
3. You can open a link in an incognito window by right-clicking the link and selecting Open link in incognito window.
4. Alt + Home loads your Google Chrome home page, with thumbnails of your most visited sites shown in the active tabbed window.
5. Control + T opens a new tab. You can drag tabs around to change their order or drag a tab out of the window into its own window.
6. Control + Shift + T opens your most recently closed tab. Press the key combination again to open the tab closed before that one. Google Chrome remembers the last 10 tabs you’ve closed.
7. Jump to different open tabs using Control + 1, Control + 2, Control + 3, etc. Control + 9 takes you to the last tab.
8. Control + Tab lets you cycle through your open tabs in order.
9. Control + Shift + Tab cycles through your tabs in the opposite order.
10. As with Firefox 3, you can drag a link onto a tab to open it in that tab, or drop it between two tabs to open a new tab in that position.
11. To bookmark a site click the star on the left of the address bar and then select a folder to add it to.
12. Control +B hides the Google Chrome bookmarks bar. Press Control + B to bring it back again.
13. Right-click or hold down the back button and you’ll get a drop-down list of sites to go back through. Show Full History, at the bottom of the list, opens a new tab with your full browser history.
14. Control + H is a faster way to bring up the History page.
15. You can delete history for chosen days by scrolling to the day you want to delete and clicking Delete history for this day on the right-hand side of the window.
16. Control + J brings up your Downloads page.
17. To clear an item from your Downloads page, right-click an entry and select Remove.

Firefox hangs

When a program no longer accepts user input and does not seem to be performing any actions, it may be hanging. A program that is hanging may be stuck in a situation from which it cannot escape. Other terms for hanging are "freezing" or "not responding."

A hanging program is different from a program that has crashed. A crash ends the program.
A hanging program does not respond to your actions. In other situations, Firefox responds to your menu and button actions but fails to load any websites.

This article describes different situations in which Firefox may hang and what you can do to correct the problem and prevent it from happening in the future.

Hang loading first window

A Firefox hang while loading the first browser window may be caused by hyper-threading. A feature on some Intel Pentium 4 processors, hyper-threading is designed to improve performance, but it can also cause Firefox to hang.
If your computer has an Intel Pentium 4 processor and you use Windows 2000 and XP, you can disable hyper-threading for Firefox:

Right-click the shortcut icon you use to start Firefox.
Select Properties.
Select the Compatibility icon.
Select Run this program in compatibility mode.
In the drop-down for compatibility mode, select Windows 98/Windows ME.
Click OK.
Restart Firefox to see if the hanging has gone away.

Hang loading every window

The SwitchProxy Tool extension checks for updates each time a new window is opened. This is a known issue.
If you use SwitchProxy Tool, you can disable it to see if hanging is prevented:

At the top of the Firefox windowOn the menu bar, click the Tools menu and then select Add-ons. The Add-ons dialog appears.
Select the Extensions panel. The list of installed extensions is displayed.
Select SwitchProxy Tool.
Click Disable.
From the menu at the top of the Firefox windowbar, select FileFirefox and then select the ExitQuit FirefoxQuit menu item.
Restart Firefox. Open several new windows to see if Firefox no longer hangs.

Hang downloading files or saving images

Firefox may hang when downloading files if your download history has grown too large. To fix this issue, the following steps clear the download history:

At the top of the Firefox windowOn the menu bar, click the Tools menu and then select Clear Private Data.... The Clear Private Data dialog appears.
Deselect all boxes except Download History.
Click Clear Private Data Now. The download history is cleared.
Download some sample files to see if the hanging has stopped.

Hang opening the History menu or the History sidebar

Firefox may hang when using the Go menu, History sidebar, or other features if your browsing history has grown too large. To fix this issue, the following steps clear the browsing history:

At the top of the Firefox windowOn the menu bar, click the Tools menu and then select Clear Private Data.... The Clear Private Data dialog appears.

Automatic proxy configuration file

If you're using an automatic proxy configuration file (PAC), Firefox may hang when you attempt to load sites that don't exist or that you haven't opened recently. To determine if you use an automatic proxy configuration file:

At the top of the Firefox windowOn the menu bar, click on the ToolsFirefoxEdit menu, and select Options...Preferences....
Click the Advanced icon.
Click the Network tab.
Click Settings. The Connection Settings dialog appears.
If Automatic proxy configuration URL is selected, you are using an automatic proxy configuration file. Do not disable this setting, which will prevent you from accessing the Internet. Instead, provide this link to your network administrator.
Click Cancel.

Duplicate Session Restore files

Firefox may be be slow to respond or hang if multiple copies of its Session Restore file have been created:

From the menu at the top of the Firefox windowbar, select FileFirefox and then select the ExitQuit FirefoxQuit menu item.
Open the Firefox profile folder.
- To find your profile folder, see Profiles.
Locate and delete the sessionstore.js file and any copies, such as sessionstore-1.js, sessionstore-2.js.

Plugins

Sites that use plugins such as Java, Adobe Reader, or Flash can cause Firefox to hang. For information on troubleshooting plugins, and on determining whether a plugin is causing your problem, see the Troubleshooting plugins article.

Hang switching tabs

Spybot S&D's "Immunize" feature can add a large number of entries into the Firefox cookie configuration file. This can cause slowdown while switching tabs.

Open Spybot S&D
Click the Immunize icon on the left side of the window.
Right-click in the Immunization list and choose Deselect all from the context menu.
In the Firefox section, put a check mark next to each item.
Click Undo at the top of the window.

Hang after prolonged use

Firefox may hang if left open for long periods of time. To fix the issue, restart Firefox.
If you regularly leave Firefox open so that you return to where you left off, you may want to use Firefox's Session Restore feature. When you exit the program, Firefox can remember your open windows and tabs. When you restart Firefox, you can optionally reload those windows and tabs.
To enable Session Restore:

At the top of the Firefox windowOn the menu bar, click on the ToolsFirefoxEdit menu, and select Options...Preferences....
Click the Main icon.
From the When Firefox starts drop-down, select Show my windows and tabs from last time.
Click OK.
Firefox is now configured to remember your windows and tabs. You can close Firefox without losing the currently opened web pages, which may prevent Firefox from hanging.

Hang deleting bookmarks folder

Trying to delete a bookmarks folder that contains many bookmarks and multiple levels of subfolders can cause Firefox to hang. To work around this problem, delete unwanted bookmark subfolders in small steps.

Blinking cursor problem in firefox.

To be frank i am firefox fan but few things i dont like about it..

yesterday i saw that my firefox started showing cursor and it was blinking. i tried hell a lot to recityfy this problem. disable greasemonkey too. but it remained.

One solution i found of creating a new integer value named "ui.caretBlinkTime" = 0
In address bar type about:config.

then right click on browser anywhere and select new->integer
give name "ui.caretBlinkTime" and value = 0
But this only stopped blinking.. the cursor remained visible.

Then i got a simple solution :p

just pressed F7 key and it vanished!!!

it was so simple but took so much of time. Poor me :-(
