Johan Lorbeer is a German street performer. He became famous in the
past few years because of his "Still-Life" Performances,
which took place in the public area. His installations includes
"Proletarian Mural" and "Tarzan", which are famous in
Germany. Several of these performances feature Lorbeer in
an apparently impossible position.

With his still-life performances, this German artist seems to unhinge
the laws of gravity. For hours on time, he remains,
as a living work of art, in physically impossible positions.
Elevated or reduced to the state of a sculpture,
he interacts with the bewildered and irritated audience,
whose appetite for communication rises as time goes by,
often culminating in the wish to touch the artist in his
superhuman, angelic appearance in order to participate in his abilities.

Olympics 2008 Beijing Stadium

The 2008 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, will be held in Beijing, China from August 8, 2008 to August 24, 2008, with the opening ceremony to take place at 8 p.m. on August 8, 2008 (08-08-08-08; the number 8 is associated with prosperity in Chinese culture). New Nokia N Other Cell phones for 2008 -2010

1 . Nokia 888 Communicator

Nokia definitely has the most interesting concept phones. Nokia 888 Communicator is a striking futuristic concept phone. The phone, which uses liquid batteries, speech recognition, flexible touchscreen and touch-sensitive body cover,is designed by Tamer Nakisci and won the Nokia Design Award

2 . Nokia Aeon

Nokia Aeon was presented by Nokia on their website in the Research & Development section. What is so great about this phone is that it looks like it will actually go into production next February. Of course, its just a rumor, but still, makes us hope to actually see it someday in the GSM shop. All we know about it for now is that its a touchscreen phone and it looks fantastic.

3 . Sky "Sleak n Slim"

"Sleek & Slim" from SKY is another concept based on touchscreen technology. The phone has a discretely glowing touchpad, hideaway keys and generally utterly-fashionable minimalist design.

4 . Benq-Siemes "Snaked"

Benq designers thought of women too and presented Snaked. This is a "reptile" looking phone, creepy somehow, but still is very cool. The Snaked is a fashion phone for sport loving women, because it also has body monitoring sensors to help the ladies keep those fine shapes.

5 . What You See is What You Get Concept

One thing is for sure about this concept phone�they could've named it shorter. Designed by Pei-Hua Hang, the phone's name comes from the fact that this concept no longer uses an LCD as viewfinder for the digital camera, instead it uses a transparent frame. And of course, interaction is made through a touchscreen

6 . Retroxis By Dark Label

If most phones presented here will never be sold in store for sure, the Retroxis concept phone from Dark Label looks kinda human, and makes us hope we'll be able to get one of these one day. Designed by Lim Sze Tat the phone is encased in high polished polycarbonate renowned for its lightweight and toughness and has an invisible OLED display that silently hides away when inactive.

7 . Benq-Siemens "The Blackbox"

Black Box designed by Benq-Siemens uses a touch screen as its keypad and, depending on the functions you are using, the touch screen changes the control layout immediately.

8 . NEC Tag

Somehow similar to the Snaked concept, the NEC Tag is a flexible phone concept that can be , for example, hung from a belt or wrapped around the user's arm. Interesting is that the phone has shape-memorizing material and sensors that allows the phone to change its shape according to the mode.

9 . Triple Watch

Though the idea of a cellphone watch is not so new, the Triple Watch designed by Manon Maneenawa has an interesting triple flip technique that allows the user to transform the watch into a normal cellphone. When used as a wrist watch, the phone has a speaker button that allows the user to answer the phone and hang up while driving.

Actualy the file is virus file with extension .scr

Boy posts classmate’s photo on Orkut, offering `services’

COIMBATORE: In perhaps the first reported case of a juvenile indulging in cyber crime in Coimbatore, the city crime police have secured a 10th standard student of a private city school for posting the photo of his classmate on a website which offered her “services” to surfers.

As a result, the girl was flooded with calls from all over, even as far as Delhi and Kolkata wanting to ‘spend time with her’. City Police Commissioner C K Gandhirajan who was apprised of the girl’s plight deputed the City Crime Police to trace the culprit. They checked the Orkut website, contacted Google officials in Bangalore and zeroed in on the girl’s classmate.

Police sources said that the boy and girl were involved in frequent fights in school and he had posted her photo on the website to wreak vengeance on her. “Since he is a juvenile, we haven’t arrested him nor have we released his name or contact particulars,” said Gandhirajan.

Deputy Commissioner, City Crime Police, K Krishnan, who is investigating the case told this website’s newspaper that the boy’s laptop has been secured and sent for further investigation. “Only after getting specific information, we can proceed further regarding the arrest of the boy,” Krishnan said.

Associated Press of Pakistan website hacked

ISLAMABAD(Online) - Pakistan’s official website the Associated Press of Pakistan has been blocked after it was hacked by hackers.

A senior APP official claimed that some Indian hackers had tried to hack the APP website in the past.

A premium Search Engine has attached a warning for anyone visiting the website of Associated Press of Pakistan.
The warning has been placed by premium search engine Google. A Google search will reveal how the search engine has warned visitors against visiting the website of the APP.

The warning says by visiting APP website some malicious software may automatically be installed in the visitors’ computer without their permission.
The warning says dangerous software can delete data on the visitor’s computer, steal personal information and credit card numbers or alter the search results.
According to the senior APP official such warning may be part of such hacking attempts.

The APP is a State-owned news agency and is known to show the govt of the day in a positive light.

Google earn $2.53 billion in advertising sales from U.K. in 2007

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Internet search giant Google Inc.


Google generated sales of $2.53 billion, or GBP1.30 billion, in the U.K. in 2007,
according to a regulatory filing.

The figures underline the extent to which Google is closing the gap, in sales terms, with the U.K.'s largest advertiser-funded broadcaster, ITV PLC (ITV.LN), and its increasing market share in the U.K. advertising marketplace.
Google's U.K. sales grew 45% in 2007, according to the filing. This represents a significant slowdown in the sales growth rate from 80% sales growth in 2006. Google generated roughly 15% of total sales in the U.K. in 2007, down slightly from 16% in 2006.

In the filing, Google blamed weakness in key market sectors such as finance and travel for the slower U.K. growth.

ITV generated sales of GBP1 billion in the first half of 2007. More than half of ITV's advertising revenue comes from its flagship ITV1 channel, which saw revenue contract 9% in the first half of 2007, compared with the year-earlier period.
UBS, commenting on the filing, forecast that internet advertising would account for around 20% of total U.K. advertising expenditure by the end of 2008.

Google Map: Street View

About every two months, Google Maps adds 6-7 new cities to Street View. In May 2007 the service was launched with images for 5 cities, two months later 4 new cities were added, in October Google added 6 cities, while in December a record of 8 cities were added to Street View.

This month, Google added 12 new cities from the US: Juneau (Alaska), Boise (Idaho), Salt Lake City (Utah), San Antonio (Texas), Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill (North Carolina), Manchester (New Hampshire), Kansas City (Missouri), Milwaukee (Wisconsin), Albany, Schenectady (New York). It's interesting to see that the 12 cities are distributed uniformly and the total number of cities is now 35.

When do you think Google will add all the important cities from the US and the rest of the world? Shouldn't Google outsource this job to other companies or at least accept photos from users and use technology like Photosynth to combine them?

Bonus question: can you find the formula for an integer sequence that has the first 5 values: 5, 4, 6, 8, 12?

Orkut Calling All Programmers. . .

Google's Orkut, one of the world's largest social media Web sites now will allow its population to use third-party applications for games, music and other plug-in programs. Following Facebook's lead, the new offering most likely will boost the fast-rising site's world popularity.

Amar Gahdhi, Orkut group product manager, announced the move on his blog Monday, saying the company expects to raise its online population up to more than 50 million users in the next few weeks.

Google will accept applications from social media until Feb. 15 and unveil those chosen in late February. Google also will hold an "Orkut Hackathon" on Thursday and Friday at its Mountain View, Calif., headquarters.

Orkut was launched in January 2004 as a response to social media kingpin MySpace and burgeoning college social media Web site Facebook. Since then, MySpace has taken about 80 percent of the U.S. social media site while Facebook, which was the first to open its computer platform to developers last spring, now has 10 percent of the demographic.

Orkut, by contrast, has less than 1 percent of the U.S. market, but has exploded in other countries. In Brazil, where 50 percent of traffic goes to Orkut. Nearly 17 percent of the social media market in India also uses the social media program. Asia and Latin American users also are becoming Orkut hotshots.

Allowing third-party applications will continue this trend, said Chris Johnson, founder of Tempe-based programing company Terralever LLC. Terralever was the first programming firm allowed to develop applications for Facebook.

In the U.S., however, Orkut probably will remain behind the MySpace and Facebook behemoths, Johnson said.

"Orkut has such a small U.S. market base that I don't think it'll get much traction," he said. "But it is one of the largest sites in the world, so that's where you'll see growth."

Terralever does not have plans to develop applications for Orkut, although Johnson and thousands of others are waiting for what will be the Holy Grail of social media application development. Within moths, MySpace is expected to announce that users will be able to use applications that already have been submitted to the company.
