Reset an XP Password in various ways

This article has every possible method on how you can reset an XP password.

Recovering lost administrator windows N4/XP/Vista isn’t a complicated task and I know several easy ways to do so. Which method you’d use it’s up to you, but I usually try ERD first. But first things first – let’s present the options:

Option #1

ERD – Emergency recovery disk. Using this method you need to prepare ahead, by downloading one of FREE ERD tools and burning it onto CD.



ERDs are Free Windows password-cracking tools are usually Linux boot disks that have NT file system (NTFS) drivers and software that will read the registry and rewrite the password hashes for any account including the Administrators. This process requires physical access to the console but it works like a charm! I've done it myself several times with no glitch or problem whatsoever.



Caution: If used on users that have EFS encrypted files, and the system is XP or later service packs on W2K, all encrypted files for that user will be UNREADABLE! And cannot be recovered unless you remember the old password again!



Pros: Quick, Works in 99% of cases.

Cons: Might seem complicated for notice user, doesn’t work with certain SATA disk and/or Raid controllers

Petter Nordahl-Hagen's Offline NT Password & Registry Editor - A great boot CD/Floppy that can reset the local administrator's password. (The only tool for Windows VISTA)

EBCD – Emergency Boot CD - Bootable CD, intended for system recovery in the case of software or hardware faults.

Petter Nordahl-Hagen has written a Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista offline password editor:

· This is a utility to (re)set the password of any user that has a valid (local) account on your Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista system, by modifying the encrypted password in the registry's SAM file.

· You do not need to know the old password to set a new one.

· It works offline, that is, you have to shutdown your computer and boot off a floppy disk or CD. The boot-disk includes stuff to access NTFS partitions and scripts to glue the whole thing together.

· Works with syskey (no need to turn it off, but you can if you have lost the key)

· Will detect and offer to unlock locked or disabled out user accounts!

To write these images to a floppy disk you'll need RawWrite2 which is included in the Bootdisk image download. To create the CD you just need to use your favorite CD burning program and burn the .ISO file to CD. I personally prefer CD option since I don’t have to fiddle around with antique technology like floppy drives, besides most of new pc don’t have floppy drive at all.

Author claims that this tool was successfully tested on NT 3.51, NT 4, Windows 2000 (except datacenter), Windows XP (all versions) and Window Server 2003. Notice that it is NOT compatible with Active Directory. To work around this limitations please read the Forgot the Administrator's Password? - Reset Domain Admin Password in Windows Server 2003 AD page.

EBCD – Emergency Boot CD (v0.61 - October 2004)

EBCD is a bootable CD, intended for system recovery in the case of software or hardware faults. It is able to create backup copies of normally working system and restore system to saved state. It contains the best system software ever created, properly compiled and configured for the maximum efficient use.

EBCD will be very useful when you need to:

· Copy/move files (with long names, not necessary in CP437 encoding) from/to the disk but OS which can handle them (windows, Linux...) cannot boot. In particular, you may create a backup copy of normally installed and configured Windows and later restore Windows from such backup copy. So, in the case of fault OS itself and all software and its settings can be restored in 5-10 minutes.

· Perform emergency boot of Windows NT / 2000 / XP. When the loader of this OS on the hard disk is damaged or misconfigured, you are able to load OS using another, standalone loader from this CD.

· Recover master boot record of HDD. This allows to boot OS after incorrect uninstallation of custom loader (LILO, for example), which made all OS on your PC not bootable.

· Delete, move, copy to file (image) and re-create partition from file. Image transfer over network is also supported: so you may configure one PC and then make contents of hard disks of other PCs same as contents of the hard disk of the first one.

· Change password of any user, including administrator of Windows NT/2000/XP OS. You do not need to know the old password.

· Recover deleted file, even file re-deleted from Windows Recycle Bin, and, in contrast, wipe single file or a whole disk so that it will be impossible to recover it in any way.

· Recover data from accidentally formatted disk. Sometimes it helps to recover data from the disk, damaged by a virus.

· Recover data from a floppy disk, which is not readable by OS. Format 3.5" disk for 1.7 Mb size.

Also the disk includes full set of external DOS commands, console versions of the most popular archivers/compressors.

Moreover, emergency boot CD includes minimal Linux distribution (Rescue Linux distribution) which may be very useful to a professional user.

Option #2

Lets say, worst happened – its past 11pm, you are still at work, accidentally forgot admin password and ALL ERD tools don’t work, since the pc you are working on have non-standard disk controller. What to do???

Luckily for us, Microsoft left loophole, big enough to do the task relatively easy:



1. Place in windows XP CD and start your computer (it’s assumed here that your XP CD is bootable – as it should be - and that you have your bios set to boot from CD)

2. Keep your eye on the screen messages for booting to your cd usually it will be “Press any key to boot from cd”

3. Begin windows Repair process.

4. During the reboot, do not make the mistake of “pressing any key” to boot from the CD again!

5. Keep your eye on the lower left hand side of the screen and when you see the Installing Devices progress bar, press SHIFT + F10. This is the security hole! A command console will now open up giving you the potential for wide access to your system.

From here you can run any windows command and you’ll have full administrator access. To reset password you can use ether of two ways:



1) Run NUSRMGR.CPL to get graphical interface

2) Run Compmgmt.msc to get Computer Management console. From there use Local User and Groups->Users

How To Crack Winrar V3.70 (Make a Mega Corp Version)

Since winrar has updated twice, I will call this version 2 of the tutorial.
I will expand a little on modding the default installer.

...:: $tart ::...
Open up WinRAR.exe in W32Dasm (I use W32Dism, patched with extra features)
and search the 'str ref's' for anything that looks suspicious.....
I found 'evaluation copy' first, but there are loads of references that lead to the same cmp
cmp byte ptr [004b2124], 00
'rarreg.key'
'rarkey'
'Registered to'
'Evaluation copy'
'Correct registration'
'Thank you for your support' etc etc..

The fist thing I did was patch the 'Evaluation Copy' value in hex
from 803D24214B0000
to 803D24214B0001.......
The 01 on the end is the variable for the compare,
So changing this will make the compare using the wrong condition.
It worked but still says '40 Day Trial Copy' in the about box. There must be more cmp's
So I decided to search for the compare in W32Dasm instead of a reference (cmp byte ptr [004b2124], 00)
There were loads,....... Why have the same compare for every one of the above??
They all seem related to the registration process.
So, maybe if I patch the whole lot it may make a difference.

...:: $earch the file ::...
Open up your favourite Patch creator, I use CodeFusion v3.0
The first page can be filled how you want, don't forget to 'Edit About Dialog'.
Then......

...:: Patching ::...
Click the + & add WinRAR.exe
Click the + & Enter the info....
Find - 803D24214B0000
Replace - 803D24214B0001
Make sure you select 'Replace All' from the dropdown box.
And click OK.


Run the patch on WinRAR.exe
It works*!
All references to the trial are removed & all features are enabled ^_^
Some times it pays to look for similar calls to different references.

...:: Cleaning up ::...
Now, if you want to remove the CodeFusion credits from your patch....

Before compiling the patch, Turn OFF
'Encrypt Executable Data' &
'Pack Executable File'
or the data your looking for will be scrambled & dangerous to change.
Make the patch.
Open WinRAR.exe in a hex editor & search for...
-={ CodeFusion Runtime }=-

And replace, I use (same length)....
-={ Patch Presented By }=-

Then I used ResourceHacker to replace the icons & edit the text.
I use ResourceHacker ALOT. It's good when used with CodeFusion.
You can add extra pictures, move the boxes around, chaange box names etc, etc.
Finaly, pack the finished Patch with a compression program. (Upx, AsPack, ARMProtector etc)

You should experiment with ResourceHacker it's a great reversing program and has more uses than you may think.

...:: Changing the name in 'About' box ::...
I wanted to add my name in the about box, but couldnt find it in the .exe so I tried other options..........

I used FileMon to see if it checked for a keyfile by setting 'key' to highlight.
It showed 15 results pointing to 'rarreg.key'

So I decided to put some text in the file it's checking.....
Make a file called 'rarreg.txt'
First I just entered...
I win
Cracked by Abe+!
And changed it to 'rarreg.key'

But in the about box, it still said.....
Registered to
Cracked by Abe+!

So now I know the 'Registered to' will stay there, I have to add that first.........

It works, time to roll a fat one*!
Well thats it. I have included all the programs needed to complete the tutorial.
I have used this method on the past four versions of WinRAR. And if it's like WinZip, following versions
will probaly use the same method. (same idea, different addresses)

..:: Make It A Corporate Edition (no serial needed & extra programs) ::...
Copy the cracked WinRAR folder to a new location.
You can now add programs here, but you will need to make reg file changes manually.
Also add any files and folders you added to Uninstall.lst or they wont get deleted when uninstalling.

Highlight all the files in the new folder (not the folder its self or it will cause errors due to an extra folder in program files/winrar/*your folder*)
Add them to an archive and set these options...
Compression = Best
Create SFX archive
Put recovery record (i always set recover to 3% in advanced tab)
Lock archive

Click the advanced tab then SFX options.
All these options are listed below - took me fukin ages to figure this out, so I wont go into too much detail. Just be carefull with the shortcuts.
To call the installer use...
Setup=uninstall.exe /setup

Dont worry about the icons etc, thats next.

Lets Mod the WinRar Installer
open Resource Hacker and load winrar.

Click action and change bitmap then icons. I usually use the icons from the original winrar.exe as people trust them (I mimic the whole installer page really )

Then click 'STARTDLG' in the left panel. In there you can drag and drop the installers window contents. Right click to edit or add an item.
To save any changes there you will need to click 'compile script' then save th file (save to a new file again because it freezes sometimes)

Thats about it, roll another fattie and get wasted ;P

Encrypt a text file in a JPG file

Here is a tutorial on how to hide files in Jpg’s. Please note it isn’t the most secure method, because the information is stored in plain text but it’s still cool to play with. A simple solution to make this more secure, is to use encryption on the RAR file when your create it, but thats not the point of this tutorial The idea is to show how files can be ’slammed’ together, to stop the average PC user from finding them.

Step by Step Instructions
You will need the following..

-Windows 2000 / XP (probably Vista, too!)
-Basic Knowledge of the Command Prompt
-WinRar

1. Gather your jpg file and the text files you wish to lodge into it. Here I have a black.txt which which I will slap inside my rider.jpg

2. Add both these files into a new RAR archive.Here the archive is black.rar

3. Open Command Prompt.

4. Go to the folder where your files are located, in this case ‘C:\hidden’

5. Type copy /b rider.jpg + black.rar blackrider.jpg where rider.jpg is the original picture, black.rar is the file to be hidden, and blackrider.jpg is the file which contains both.

6. Test the resulted JPG by opening it with winrar!

7. Enjoy the trick

Drive not opening on double click?? autorun.inf virus

Many time many of us have faced this problem that on double clicking the drives they don't open instead it will ask to "open with" ..

what the hell.. how can u open your drives with some other soft??

its happening because your system is affected with some virus which has created autorun.inf file in your drives.

try to find the root cause of it.. some copy.exe virus or some stupid virus has caused it and is still active.

so open the task manager and see the process tab and try to identify the unknown process and click on end task after selecting it

process explorer from microsoft might help u if you are not good in these stuffs.. you may download it after googling for link

after killing the process delete its entry from startup too..[registry startup also]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]

then our task is to remove the autorun.inf file

click on start>run>then type cmd and press enter

type the following commands



cd\

attrib -s -h -r autorun.inf

del autorun.inf


repeat these commands for each drive you have

for changing drives in cmd you may type

like for d:

just type

d: and press enter

simple :-)

How to Repair Windows Vista Without a Vista DVD

If you own a branded computer or laptop such as Acer, Dell or HP, chances are they only provide you with recovery partition or a recovery DVD without Windows Vista DVD.

There are 2 ways of doing it. The easy way and also the hard way.

Easy way is to download a 120MB ISO file from EasyBCD website. They've uploaded a copy of a CD that contains the contents of the "Repair your computer" section of the Windows Vista DVD.
You can download Windows Vista Recovery Disc from here:


Once you've finished downloading, burn Vista_Recovery_Disc.iso with Nero or your favorite disc burning software and boot up your computer with the CD.

The hard way is to build a VistaPE environment using the free WAIK download from Microsoft. The Windows Automated Installation Kit (Windows AIK) helps you to install, customize, and deploy the Microsoft Windows Vista family of operating systems. The WAIK is a whopping 992.2 MB in size.

Which method would you use to repair Windows Vista if you don't have a Vista DVD? I'd definitely go for the easy way. It's 120MB but at least it's much smaller compared to 992MB! Moreover, I don't need to manually build the
VistaPE.

Different ways to turn off your PC

There are so many different ways to turn off your Windows XP computer, let's look at some of them:


1. The standard approach - click the Start Button with your mouse, then select the Turn Off menu and finally click the Turn Off icon on the Turn Off computer dialog. blink.gif

2. Press Ctrl+Esc key or the Win key and press u two times - the fastest approach.

3. Get the Shutdown utility from Download.com - it add the shut down shortcuts for you. Else create them yourself using approach 4.

4. Create a shutdown shortcut on your desktop. Right click on the desktop, choose New Shortcut and type shutdown -s -t 00 in the area where you are asked to specify the location of the program file. Now you can just double click this icon to turn off the computer. The best location would be your quick launch bar.

5. Press the Win key + R key to open the run window. Type shutdown -s -t 00. [s means shutdown while t means the duration after which you want to initiate the shutdown process].

If some open processes or application won't let you turn off, append a -f switch to force a shut down by closing all active processes.



6. Win+M to minimize all windows and then Alt+F4 to bring the Turn Off computer dialog.

7. Open Windows Task manager (by right clicking the Windows Task bar or Alt+Ctrl+Del) and choose Shut down from the menu. Useful when the Windows are not responding.


8. open task manager--->click on shutdown--->hold the ctrl key and click on Turn off::::::: pc will be turned off in 3 secs.. fastest method other than hard shutdown

Buffer overflow in cmd

When a user with access to the system creates files with a very long name
it causes the buffer overflow and writes over the EIP, thus granting the
user the ability to execute arbitrary code with root privileges.

The program consists of a monitor and scanner. Only the scanner option was
tested on the 4.28a version and it was found vulnerable.

TWEAKUI (Windows XP Powertoys)

TWEAKUI is one of the most known Windows Powertoys/Powertools (issued but not supported by Microsoft) to tweak the User Interface (UI). With this tool you are able to change settings, which aren't reachable within Windows. As an example you can make changes to the desktop and start menu, which are not within reach unless you know how to make changes in the Windows registry.

The past time many (free and commercial) tweak applications have seen the light. Most of them have even more options then the Microsoft TWEAKUI tool. Essentially they all work the same, but with different interfaces. On this page I discuss the TWEAKUI tool, this tool doesn't give many troubles when used improperly..

Would you like more tweaking options then TWEAKUI can provide you? The most ultimate tweak utility is X-Setup (download: www.x-setup.net). All known tweaks are available (and explained!) in this massive utility. At first, this application is a bit overwhelming, but that shouldn't be a problem because of the provided Wizards.


Another interesting tweak utility is Doug's Security Console (download: www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_securityconsole.htm), this tool makes it easy to change many settings (especially security settings). With this tool you can prevent changes to the Windows settings by other users. In this context it can be useful to have a look at the the Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit (download: www.microsoft.com/sharedaccess). With this tool you are able to restore Windows to default settings after every reboot.

Windows Registry Editor: REGEDIT

The registry contains many many Windows settings (and changes continuously), which can be viewed with the Registry Editor. Because many pages on this site (and other websites) contain registry tweaks, you need the Registry Editor to apply those registry tweaks. The Registry Editor is started with the command REGEDIT (Start, Run..., create a shortcut if you use Registry Editor frequently). Welcome in the world of the registry entries!

Most important to remember using the Registry Editor: there is NO WAY back. If you change something, it is permanent unless you have made a (partly) registry backup (File, Export). Worst case scenario: your Windows doesn't boot anymore! However, this is not a reason to leave the Registry Editor for what it is, frightened to do something wrong. If you carefully follow the instructions and ensure yourself you are making the right changes, nothing will go wrong. Before you make permanent major changes, it's wise first to make a system backup, to repair any damage.


Making changes to the registry

As shown below, the registry (Start, Run, REGEDIT) contains 5 basic keys: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, HKEY_CURRENT_USER, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, HKEY_USERS and HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG. Most suggested registry tweaks will be suggested for the HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE keys. The first key contains settings for the current user account while the second key contains settings for the Windows system.



Tweaks for the HKEY_CURRENT_USER keys can be safely tested by creating an extra user account (Control Panel, User accounts). Within the new test user account you can test those tweaks and remove the user account afterwards. Before you make essential changes to the registry, you can export the keys first to a *.REG file by File, Export within the Registry Editor. Later you can import those registry files by File, Import or by double clicking on them in the Windows Explorer. This way it's easy to export registry settings from one computer to the other.

An important function within the Registry Editor is the search function (Edit, Search). Using the F3 key makes it easy to find next items in the registry.

TRACKING CHANGES IN THE WINDOWS REGISTRY :
Most tools make changes in the registry keys. If you would like to know which changes take place, you can find them with a realtime monitoring tool like Process Monitor (download: www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/processmonitor.mspx). If you would like to compare the difference before and after a change, you can create snapshots and calculate the changes. You can do this with trialsoftware like Advanced Registry Tracer (download: www.elcomsoft.com/art.html) or Tracker (download: www.evansprogramming.com/tracker.asp).

Windows search optimization

Within Windows XP you are able to search your computer for files (Start, Search), but takes some clicking to get what you want! To optimize the search function, you have to make some registry changes. To make changes, navigate to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
where you will find some important DWORD-values. Change these values to optimize your Windows search:

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll
down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time.
When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really
speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This
means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.
Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0".
This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

If you're using a brodband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now.

SPEED UP UR ACROBAT READER (ALMOST LIKE NOTEPAD)

1. Go to the installation folder of acrobat reader
(C:\program files\adobe\acrobat\reader\.. whatever)
2. Move all the files and folders from the "plugins" directory to the "Optional" directory. (I repeat.. cut and paste the files NOT copy & paste).
Also make sure that acrobat reader is not open else it will lock the files and not allow you to move the files).

Last known good config: Always the easiest to try first before settling for a reinstallation of Windows XP. Reboot the PC and tap F8 while you wait for boot options to be displayed for you. Once there, choose "Last known good configuration."

If you are unable to get system restore to work from within safe mode, you can try to access it from within a command prompt. You will be asked which Windows installation you wish to access. Choose the appropriate number.
Now a prompt for your administrator password will appear. Enter it and continue (if no password, press enter).
Now we are ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work. While at the console, you can type help for a list of available commands that are at your disposal. For example, you can repair a messed up boot sector by typing FIXBOOT and then typing enter afterward. If you are having difficulty booting up because of a messed up ntldr file, however, then you might need to replace it by typing:
COPY E:\i386\NTLDR C:
(Keep in mind this is assuming that E: is the correct drive letter for your CD ROM drive). Once you have repaired what you have needed to from the recovery console, simply type EXIT at the prompt to leave and restart Windows.
When all else fails, sometimes reinstalling is the best medicine. Below, we will look at two very different methods to accomplish this.

Repair installation: Running a repair install of Windows XP can be a handy way of fixing the installation of XP without having to start totally over and deleting important data from your PC. To do this type of install, simply follow these instructions.

Boot from your XP installation CD.
At the welcome screen, choose enter.
Once at the license agreement, press F8.
At the next screen, choose to repair the selected Windows XP installation by pressing R.
The files will begin to install and then your PC will reboot. During the reboot you will be presented with option of booting from the CD again by pressing any key. Don't press anything. Allow it to finish the install without booting from the CD again.


Full reinstallation of Windows XP: If all else fails and you are ready to completely delete everything on your hard drive, then you are ready to do a full reinstallation.
You will be erasing everything, so make sure you already have a backup of any important data before you continue. Follow the instructions above 'til you arrive at step 4. At that point, choose to continue installing a fresh copy of XP on your system and NOT the repair option. Black Viper has a great walkthrough that will take you step by step through the nuances of setting up your partitions, formatting, etc.

Opening Files in Notepad
To send the files to notepad, follow the steps below:
1. Go to %SystemDrive%\documents and settings\%username%\sendto
2. Right click on the right hand panel and select "New|Shortcut"
3. Create a new shortcut to notepad.exe in to the sentto folder.

Now if you right click any REG, TXT, VBS, CMD, DAT, NFO file, you can chose the "Send to" menu and send the file to Notepad which will immediately open it for editing.

I know this is a very simple thing but the problem, as like many other issues, is the ignorance about it.

How often do you copy songs from a CD? Or some photos from a CD?

What do you do? You select the required files and do a CTRL –C. Open the destination folder and do a CTRL-V. Here is something you can benefit time from. Customize your SEND TO MENU.

This sounds simple and you can do it in less than sixty seconds.
You can create your own BASKET.

First you’ll need access to hidden files. So change your view settings to make all hidden files visible.
Tools -> folder options -> view (tab) and select the show hidden files and folders.
go to parent drive:/documents and settings/(user name)/send to

Open up my computer and locate your most used folders.

Create a shortcut of the most used folders in SEND TO FOLDER.You can do this in a number of ways.

Right click -> send to desktop(create shortcut) and move the shortcut from the desktop to the SEND TO FOLDER

Copy the most used folder and go to SEND TO FOLDER and right click -> paste shortcut.

Also remember to rename the shortcuts to send to videos or send to potos. We don’t need confusion when we use the same later.

5. DONE

Converting .exe files to .jpg

This may be helpful for some people
1. Firstly, create a new folder and make sure that the options 'show hidden files' is checked and ‘hide extensions for known file types’ is unchecked. Basically what u need is to see hidden files and see the extension of all your files on your pc.

2. Paste a copy of your server on the new created folder. let's say it's called server.exe (that's why you need the extension of files showing, cause you need to see it to change it)

3. Now you’re going to rename this server.exe to whatever you want, let’s say for example picture.jpeg

4. Windows is going to warn you if you really want to change this extension from exe to jpeg, click YES.

5. Now create a shortcut of this picture.jpeg in the same folder.

6. Now that you have a shortcut, rename it to whatever you want, for example, me.jpeg.

7. Go to properties (on file me.jpeg) and now you need to do some changes there.

8. First of all delete all the text on field START IN and leave it empty.

9. Then on field TARGET you need to write the path to open the other file (the server renamed picture.jpeg) so u have to write this: C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c picture.jpeg

10. The last field, c picture.jpeg is always the name of the first file. If you called the first file soccer.avi you gotta write C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c soccer.avi got it?

11. So what you’re doing is when someone clicks on me.jpeg, a cmd will execute the other file picture.jpeg and the server will run.

12. On that file me.jpeg (shortcut), go to properties and you have an option to change the icon. click that and a new window will pop up and u have to write this: %SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll . Then press OK.

13. You can set the properties HIDDEN for the first file (picture.jpeg) if you think it’s better to get a connection from someone.

14. But don’t forget one thing, these 2 files must always be together in the same folder and to get connected to someone they must click on the shortcut created not on the first file. So rename the files to whatever you want considering the person and the knowledge they have on this matter.

i am not a master in this field but what i know i can share it with you.

now we have to crack soft. we have to make a backup of the exe file of this software.

as we are using dissembler it will dissemble the soft into its assembly codes so u need to know some basic codes which we need in this job

try to register the software with some random character. you will get an error messege like "wrong code"
note down this code

dessemble the exe file using win32dasm

u will getthe codes in too many lines .. may be 10000 depending upon the size of soft.

now find "wrong code" by search option in the dissembler

as you can see the codes are written in modules

just the line you find the "wrong code" ..try to check for the start of that module

hint* check for the lines "unconditional and conditional jump statements"

see the memory addresses written there
eg- oo1a009877...

leave this thing here only

now open the same .exe file with the help of hiew
open hiew.exe and start working on it with keyboard only

select the folder and select the file to open it
after opening it u can see garbage characters that you can not understand.
press f4 and select 3rd option ie- decode

now you can see the codes

now note the addresses written on dissembler part where we left

on hiew window press f5 and press "." then foloowed by the address u noted there

now after coming to the desired position select edit option by pressing f3


now we have to revert the statements
like lets say we encountered jne
like jne to je and vice-versa by changing there corresponding values ie 84<-->85

like this revert all the loop statements noted on dissembler module where we left after searching

now after editing the values press enter key and then press "f9" to update the changes in the exe file

now exit hiew

done!!!

now replace the .exe file with the one you just cracked

now it will accpet all the wrong codes which u will enter for registration and on entering the correct key only it will show error message

if the software is not simple ones then more things to be done

Any type of registration protection.
First of all.Use Softice cause i don't like Live Approch.
Ok
Run Your target program and go on the registration dialog,then put
in the dialog any name and any serial number but DON'T press OK
before press "control+d" to pops up softice and in softice sets some
Break points.......for approching with a registration routine we must
breakpoint on api(windows functions) used to read Your name and Your
Sn.
They are

Hmemcpy (that's not an api but it's the best)

Well the "A" after the api means 32 bit so if your program is 32 bit
put the A if not don't.Easy!
I always use only Hmemcpy cause it runs 99,9% of the times.
Well now exit from softice by pressing control+d and press ok,if you have set
a working bpx softice will pops up.

Now start the real cracking.....
Press F12 until you can read on the bottom line of SoftIce the name
of the file of the program you're cracking....
then if before your location there's a call ok,if not press again F12 until you find it.
Then you must step into the code.....(by pressing F10),if in your stepping you find some
condictional jumps have a look at them......btw step until you find a call that prompt you
something like a messagebox or something else that prompt you the "You entered a Wrong code",
well before that call you noticed a condictional jump that jumped on that call or dindn't jump
over that call....if yes try to inverse the jump (change a jz into a jnz)
or (a better way) change the value of the eip in order to make that jump to jump or not.
Doing this if you find the good jump the program must prompt you "Thank for Registering this
fucked program",
now the crack is near to the end...
Often cracking this way you will only prompt the "You Are Regged" but the program still continue
to be unregged so in order to crack it 100% and easly there are 2 ways-

1) trace into the call BEFORE our important condictional jump and try to understand the code,
in order to find the real compare instrucion that often is kept in this call not out....if
you find out our real compare instruction,and change the below condictional jump in order to
make it jump or not(it depends if it before jumped or not,do the reverse).
Ok now the program should be fully cracked!

2) this is a worse way than the first but it works!This way is easyer for beginners
You must trace into the call before our important codictional jmp,and then put a bpx in its first line,then press "x" and exit from softice and use the program in all its functions,create new,open,about,save, and when softice pops up press "f12" in order to get out that call and look for a near condictional jump and try to inverse it and look if the program looks like regged,
you must sign up all these condictional jump and inverse it,and your program is cracked!

Secret - Hidden Uninstall Options
Instructions - Warning: Proceed at your own risk.
Browse to C:\Windows\inf\ and make a backup copy of sysoc.inf. Then open the original file C:\Windows\inf\sysoc.inf in notepad. Go to "Edit" and select "Replace". windows\system32\amvo.exe

just delete these 3 files and the virus is gone, and donot forget to remove the startup entry for amvo.exe, either from msconfig or regedit or any 3rd party tool

1. Open Task Manager
2. End Task Explorer.exe
3. Select Run from File Menu
4. Type cmd (press enter)
5. In Command Prompt Type: cd %windir%\system32
6. Type: attrib -s -h -r amvo*.*
7. Type del amvo*.*

Recently I had a big time trouble with my computer as all the drives failed to open on double clicking and showed me a application selection window instead. After searching through the running processes and other settings I found that the show hidden files options in the folder options was also not working.

With the help of one of my friends [MOHIT] I fixed the issues.

The problem was due to amvo.exe amvo0.dll ampo.exe amvol.dll xfoolavp.com usdeiect.com and autorun.inf present in every drive’s root.

The fix works as follows…

open task manager (if ur task manager doesnt open and shows errors and warnings then use this tool

and end task the above mentioned processes if u see them in the running process list from the processes pane. Then goto applications pane and click on new task and type in cmd or command. Once at the command prompt type in “cd\” without the quotes to goto the root of the current drive. Then type “del /f /a /s /q”

where of the files above mentioned (this menthod can also be used to force delete any unwanted file ) use this method to delete all above mentioned from the root of every drive.

After this open registry editor by clicking on new task and typing in “regedit” without quotes. Then goto HKCU > software >microsoft >windows >current version > explorer > advanced > then look for the hidden key in the right pane and change the value to 1 from 2.

And to fix the issues with drives not opening or search opening up on double click download this .reg

driveguard.exe virus

Removal of Driveguard.exe virus is very easy. just open taskmanager and end the process driveguard.exe and also of any .tmp extension is running then also end that process. Now remove its entry from startup by going to msconfig. also dont forget to del your temp files.

How i found it:
Today one of my frnd came to me for some files from my system.. he inserted his pen drive and clicked here ..there... result: pc got infected

i found the process driveguard . exe in task manager

it was trying to access site
http://www.freewebs.com/microsotf/
and download some Update-KB684903-x86. exe file..
http://rapidshare.com/files/127625927/Update-KB684903-x86.rar.html

which was detected by nod as a trojan

the site is still alive as the admins of freewebs are damn lazy to take actions

If your pc is affected with some virus the most common of all is your folder otion will be disabled,you may not be able to open task manager, etc etc..

now 1st step is to identify the virus process

process explorer will help u and u may see the path of the installed file on ur system

now use restriction removal tool to remove the task bar ..folder option restrictions...etc...

now our aim is to remove the running virus process..

use hijackthis and select the virus process. it will remove the process from startup registry also..

finally try unhackme.. to remove the rootkits

many virus can be removed in this way but many still remain on ur pc.. in such situations.. try to google for its removal methods manually.. once the restrictions are removed u may be able to use taskmanager and able to use regedit command

and after selecting them click on "Check All"

Hijack This

Its used to remove the entries of the process from registry.

You may use this to view all the running process and their path.

Just scan once..mark the ones to be deleted and then click on "fix checked"

if you wish you may save the log file also
